With effect from 1 April 2004, a company must have at least one director who is a “ordinarily resident in Singapore” i.e. Singaporean Citizen, Singaporean Permanent Resident, or a person who has been issued an Entrepass/Approval-In-Principle letter/Dependant Pass.

With effect from 1 March 2009, any person above the age of 18 years may be appointed as a director. However, certain individuals e.g. bankrupts, are disqualified from holding director positions.
